About IBEC

To scientifically understand the ecological principles and benefits that biodiversity holds for humanity and promote the wise management and use of nation's biotic wealth through ways that do not adversely effect our environment.

To promote research and acquisition and dissemination of knowledge in priority areas of environmental science and technology, with  emphasis on processes and technology applicable and relevant to tropical environment.


To develop and implement teaching and research programmes at Undergraduate, Master's, Doctoral and Post-Doctoral levels in the field of biodiversity and environmental conservation. To train a consortium of dedicated managers of natural resources, biological conservationists who can contribute in a variety of ways to the sustainable development of our biotic wealth. To forge links with other academic and research institutions, nationally and internationally, with a view of exchanging information and ideas, promotion of collaborative research and creation of dynamic environment for research and education.
