Middle and upper storeys of lowland and sub-montane primary and secondary forest; peat swamp forest and rural orchards and plantations. Observed up to 1000 metres on Gunung Penrissen, to 760 metres on Gunung Serapi, at sea level at Samunsam Wildlife Sanctuary and Samarahan, and in the Kelabit Highlands. Uncommon resident, endemic to Borneo.
