Genus Polyphida Pascoe Polyphida Pascoe, 1869, Trans. Ent. Soc. Diagnostic characters : head acutely concave between antennal insertion from side to side especially the ridged antennifer margin, almost flat medianly; eyes very large, oblong, extended from before neck to slightly before gena, prominent and bulging, deeply emarginate dorsally; anterior margin of frontal ocular lobe strongly incised into frons, approximate; antennae longer than body in both sexes; fore coxae globular; its cavity rounded externally and closed posteriorly; mid coxal cavity closed to epimeron externally. Key to species of Polyphida in Sarawak 1.

Head and prothorax black, clothed with dense slivery-ashey pubescence; pubescence on prothorax minute, indistinctive; pronotum with a median longitudinal glabrous glossy blackish stripe not reaching apex or base; antennae fuscous, segment 7 & 8 testaceous; scutellum slivery-white; elytra metallic green, thinly clothed with slivery-ashey pubescence; submedian of each elytron with a denser longitudinal slivery stripe extending from base to behind middle, sometimes tinge with brassy golden; undersurfaces black, thinly covered with ashey-white pubescence; legs pitchy with thin whitish pubescence; base of mid and hind femora testaceous. Head acutely inclinate between antennal insertion; clypeus and frons not distinctively divided by suture; vertex with several black glabrous spots. Antenna 1/5 longer than body, sparsely fringed ventrally; scape clavate towards apex, carinate latero-dorsally; 3 slender, 3 X as long as 4; 5 twice as long as 4; 6 - 11 gradually shorten. Prothorax cylindrical, 1.5 X as long as wide; apex little narrow than base; side undulating, latero-anterior roundly biemarginate; pronotum impunctate, few punctures on each side. Elytron 5.3 X as long as broad; subparallel with the apex narrowly curved and truncated; angular cusp not very produced; disc with 9 to 10 longitudinal rows of ordinate punctures; punctures finer on sutural half and apex; pubescence on submedian longitudinal stripe diametrically arranged, this being ashey flanked by 2 chalybeate stripes when view at angle from posterior or becoming fuscous flanked by 2 slivery-ashey stripes if view from anterior. Polyphida auratocrinita sp. nov.
Head exserted; mandible long, apical half extended beyond apex of labrum; clypeus broad and long, anterior elongated to 1/2 base of mandible; frons oblique with vertex, same plane as clypeus; deeply concave from side to side between antennal insertion; several piliferous blackish spots below lower ocular; gula transversely rugulo-punctate. Antenna a little longer than body, last segment exceeding elytral apex; scape incrassate, carinate latero-dorsally; 3 twice as long as 4; 5 about 1.5 X as long as 4; 6 - 11 successively shorten. Prothorax cylindrical; longer than broad; apex distinctively narrower than base; anterior and posterior margin with a broad transverse impunctate annular bands, feebly depressed with the side feebly convex near base and bisinuate at latero-anterior; median of pronotum with a glabrous stripe joining both apical and basal depression; central of pronotum and sides with many piliferous punctures. Elytron 7.3 X as long as broadest part at base; distinctively and obliquely narrower towards apex; subtransversely truncate; angular cusp obscure, not prominent; disc with 9 to 10 longitudinal rows of ordinate punctures, these being finer towards apex; disc very pubescent, pubescence on a submedian longitudinal stripe diametrically arranged so as producing a blackish stripe when view at certain angle. Coll.) 4 Note : differ from most species of Polyphida in not having any ashey band on elytral and easily distinguished by the dense auratus pubescence on body.

Head and prothorax black with thin ashey pubescence, denser around ocular and vertex; neck with a triangular impubis patch; antennae fuscous; scutellum black; elytra black as ground color, disc with 4 slivery-ashey transverse band; undersurfaces clothed with a very dense silky slivery adpressed pubescence; logs black, pubescence whitish. Head exserted; gena constricted below eyes; clypeus and frons separated by a A-shaped sulcus; the latter with a median groove extended to vertex. Antenna scape carinate dorsally; segment 3 twice as long as 4; 5 - 7 subequal, 2 X as long as 4 (8 - 11 missing). Prothorax longer than broad; elongated cylindrical; apex with a broad transverse depression not up to constriction; pronotum impunctate, smooth except for a thin layer of indistinctive pubescence; sides undulating, otherwise parallel. Elytron 6 X as long as broad; glossy black as ground color; transverse band made of slivery-ashey pubescence; 1st band basal; 2nd from scutellum, obliquely excurved at 2/9 from base, expanded below lateral deflexion and reaching external margin; 3rd triangular, anterior border oblique and reaching to suture at 1/3 from base, posterior border transverse at 4/9 from apex; 4th apical; area between base and 3rd band coarsely punctate in ordinate longitudinal rows; surfaces between 3rd and 4th with greyish shade, finely and sparsely punctulate; side parallel, gradually curved and narrow behind 3rd band; apex truncate with a sharp acicular angular spine. Legs : femora peduncle-fusiform; clavated portion more oblong-elliptical; peduncle of mid and hind femora carinate. Head black, densely covered with slivery pubescence; antennae brownish, segment 7 & 8 testaceous; prothorax black with alternating of slivery and blackish transverse bands; slivery pubescence on basal constriction denser followed by a broad blackish sub- pubescent band reaching to middle; in front of this another slivery band but less pubescent as former or more of a slivery shade; anterior margin with a sub-pubescent blackish band half the width of the one behind middle; scutellum slivery white; elytra black as ground color; disc with 4 silvery-ashey transverse bands; undersurfaces black, velutineous pubescence slivery-white; legs fusco-castaneous with dense slivery-white pubescence. Head constricted behind eyes; very pubescent on frons, vertex, around ocular and temple; dorsal and ventral of ocular margin horizontal, parallel to each other; gula as long as broad owing to the elongated eye, transversely rugose. Antenna longer than body, scape cylindrical, closely punctate; 3 longest, 3 X as long as 4; remaining segment almost subequal. Prothorax narrower than head or elytra; base very feebly constricted; side convex; disc thinly and evenly covered with very fine micropubescence; pronotum impunctate, flat. Scutellum parallel sided; apex rounded. Elytron 5.3 X as long as broad; side parallel, gradually narrow from slightly before 1/5 from apex and truncate; angular cusp not pointed; disc with 4 slivery bands; 1st basal, indistinctive, more of a slivery shade; 2nd from scutellum along suture, obliquely excurved at 1/5 from base; 3rd at middle, anterior border oblique, posterior border transverse, forming an equidistant triangular with the other elytron; 4th apical; planate at sutural half, convex at marginal half; disc with 8 to 10 longitudinal rows of ordinate punctures, coarser between base and 3rd transverse band.
