Body overall castaneous; head castaneous with evenly distributed white pubescence, denser on gena and gula; molar black; antennae entire fusco-testaceous, last 4 - 5 apical segments teataceous or whitish; prothorax dark castaneous, entirely clothed with minute dense white pubescence except three investitus fuscous spots; median one slightly elongated, a little behind middle; laterad one circular, on each side of middle; elytra fusco-testaceous with pale whitish bands and markings; undersurfaces covered with dense whitish pubescence; femora castaneous, sparse pubescence whitish; tibiae fuscous. Head short, subvertical, front curved; labrum and clypeus at same plane; the latter explanate, punctate; frons concave, with a raised anterior carina that bifurcate a little behind anterior ocular margin; another faint median carina arise from in between, continued to vertex and terminate behind posterior margin of upper eye lobe; gula slightly convex, strongly angulated with ventral of temple; vertex coarsely granulated; antennal socket conceal by a strongly raised lateral ridge that extended to the anterior, circumscribe beside inner ocular margin and then excurved to base of mandible; eye equidistantly notched, upper lobe about the same side as lower. Antenna shorter than body, not extending beyond 1/4 from base of elytra; scape barely reaching anterior of prothorax, as long as segment 3; 3 distinctively longer than 4; 5 subequal to 3; remaining gradually decreased in length; apical. segment acute. Prothorax longer than broad; broadly ovate, anterior narrower than base, with a glabrous annular girdle at apex; the widest at 1/3 from base; disc concave; side rounded; pubescent area coarsely punctate; interstice pubescent; punctures glabrous; three investitus fuscous patches granulo-striate; prosternum convex. Elytron 5 X as long as broad; subparallel; truncated at apex with an angular tooth; apical margin rounded; disc with 4 bands; 1st basal, transverse and indistinctive, bend on reaching humeral angle and curved posteriorly, the outer edge concave or rounded; 2nd wide, about 1/3 width of elytron, proceed from scutellum along suture, oblique outwards at 1/3 from base touching the humeral stripe, become narrower and again abruptly inclined latero-posteriorly towards the outer elytral margin; 3rd triangular, anterior margin oblique, tip touching suture at middle, posterior margin transverse; 4th apical, forming a large roundish patch. Legs compressed laterally; fore femora 1/2 as long as mid femora; apical half of latter fusiform, base decurved and pedunculate; hind femora subparallel, feebly widen towards apex, reaching tip of elytra; first hind tarsal segment strongly compressed, very long, 3 X as long as 2 + 3 united. Measurement : Length 10.0 - 15.0 mm; breadth 2.5 - 4.0 mm. Distribution : Sarawak Note : the description was also based on an old specimen and thus the color faded. The original description described the body ashy in color, antennae and elytra blackish. This species can be easily distinguished by the carinae on frons, the oblong-ovate prothorax, the three dark brownish spots in the pronotum, the marking on elytra and the strongly compressed first hind tarsal segment that is 3 X as long as 2 + 3 united. Body fuscous to pitchy; head pitchy with flavo-albus pubescence; maxillary and labial palpi, base of mandible, labrum, clypeus and entire antennae castaneous; on prothorax pale infuscate to flavoviren with grayish tinge; pronotum with three fuscous patches, the median oblong, another separated one on each side of middle; scutellum lacteous with olivaceous tinge; elytra fusco-piceous with flavotestaceous markings; undersurfaces fuscous with flavo-albus pubescence except epimeron of meso- and metathorax, middle of metathorax, an anterior triangular notch on episterna of metathorax and middle of all abdominal segments; femora and tibiae fuscous with grayish pubescence; all tarsus castaneous. Head very short, very much rounded in front if view from side; mandible triangular; clypeus trapezoid, oblique with forns, suture with labrum obvious, narrower at apex; upper gena very short, widen ventrally because of oblique lower ocular margin; mentum at right angle with gula, as if anterior of head abscissus; frons with two median carina that united between eye lobe to form a V-shaped mark, continued towards anterior in a strongly raised and decurved ridge; lateral ridge near antennifer strongly produced, obscuring antennal condyle, extended anteriorly circumscribe very near inner ocular margin and extenuate upon gena; all carinae glabous, interstice very pubescent; vertex with a short median carina. Antenna very short, last two apical segments extended beyond elytra; scape decurved at apex, a little longer than segment 3; 3 distinctively longer than 4; endoventrally cirrose on segment 3 - 6. Prothorax cydariform; as broad as wide; abruptly rounded near base; entirely granulated and pubescent; pronotum with a median longitudinal oblong patch that widen posteriorly, extending to but not touching apex and ends slightly before basal margin; sides of middle with a separated guttiform patch each, anterior boundary rounded, antenuate posteriorly to a sharp point. Scutellum semicircular. Elytron 4.5 X as long as broad; narrower towards apex, transversely truncate; angular spine obscure; disc with 5 bands; 1st transverse, extended along basal margin until ventral of humeral protuberance; 2nd subtransverse, curved backwards at 2/3 from suture; 3rd at middle, transverse but not reaching external margin, posterior margin curved near suture; 2nd and 3rd united along suture; 4th a little more than 1/3 from apex, transversely triangular; 5th apical, margin oblique to angular spine. Undersurfaces : anterior and posterior margin of metathorax densely pubescent, middle bare; episterna of metathorax very pubescent except the anterior triangular notch; pubescence congregated at side of abdominal segments; only tip of last abdominal segment extended beyond elytra. Legs : basal half of mid femora pedunculate, apical half fusiform; hind femora subfusiform, base narrower, apex not reaching tip of elytra; first hind tarsal segment 3 X as long as 2 + 3 united. Xylotrechus brevicornis GAHAN ferebrevicornis sp. nov.
Head very short, rounded in
front; molar truncated; labrum and clypeus fit entirely in between mandible
when close, both glabrous with few bristles; gula deflexed; mantum oblique, as
if anterior of head truncated; frons with a broad longitudinal median carina,
not strongly raised, punctate and bifurcate a little in front of canthus; weakly
granulo-striate between furcae; lateral ridge conspicuous, circumscribe inner
ocular margin and extenuate near gena; interstice of these ridges densely and
uniformly pubescent; vertex with a weak and short median carina, pubescent;
neck very short, reticulo-punctate. Antenna short, barely reaching elytra in Holotype (For. Dept. Coll.) Distribution : Sarawak Note : Very similar to X. brevicornis at first look but differ in (i) maxillary and labial palpi of this species being testaceous, (ii) the lateral patches on prothorax that is abscissus posterior-ventrally at basal margin and large size that almost cover entire side, (iii) middle of mesosternum that is investitus, (iv) more well defined triangular patch on episternum of metathorax, (v) unique markings on abdominal segments that has a bisinuate border, (vi) the base of middle and hind femora is honey yellow, (vii) the 1st basal elytral band not extending under humeral protuberance, (viii) the 2nd transverse band only abruptly bent at tip and (ix) sutural half of 3rd acuminated instead of curved.

Head and prothorax black, with dense lacteous pubescence; pronotum with a short median blackish median stripe near to base; antennae dark fuscous with dense whitish pubescence, apical segments more ferrugineous; scutellum. with apical margin chalky-white, base fuscous; elytra black with lacteous and fuscous pubescence; the former occupying larger percentage; undersurfaces entire and extremely densely clothed with lacteous pubescence; fore and mid coxae ochraceous; femora and tibiae black. Head elongated, vertical; lateral margin of frons parallel between eyes and antennal support, widening to gena; frons with 2 carinae side of median, diverge towards antennifer; vertex coarsely punctate, especially around ocular. Antenna shorter than body, extended to 1/2 of elytra; scape long, reaching apical margin of prothorax; segment 3 & 4 subequal, as long as scape; 5 longest, slightly longer than scape; 1/4 apex of segment 11 apiculate. Prothorax longer than broad; apex as wide as base; both narrower than elytra; pronotum with a investitus but granulated median stripe behind middle, this being gibbose. Scutellum semicircular; apical margin pubescent; base investitus, finely punctulate. Elytron 7.2 X as long as broad; parallel; tip broadly rounded, not spine or dentate; 4 lacteous band almost covered entire disc; 1st basal, broad and transverse, 4 X as deep as scutellum.; 2nd broad, conected to former along suture, sloping, anterior broder biemarginate, leaving a sharp point at deflexion, posterior border ablique-straight; 3rd campanulate; 4th apical, connected with 3rd along suture; all bands approximate. Legs : 1/5 of hind femora extended beyond elytral apex. Measurement : Length 13.0 mm; breadth 2.5 mm. Distribution : Peninsular Malaysia; Sabah. Note : this pecies was collected from Sabah. Material examined : 1 specimen, Mt. Kinabalu (4500 ft), Sabah, 4.X.1913 (SM Coll.).
Xylotrechus hypoleucus PASCOE
Entire head black, semi investitus with few scattered ashey pubescence; 4 basal antermal segments fuscous; 5 - 11 whitish pubescence; prothorax with a faint broad transverse fuscous patch; scutellum white; elytra black as ground color, clothed with blackish to fuscous pubescence, bands made of ashey pubescence; prosternum with denser whitish pubescence; posterior end of episternum of mesothorax, entire episternum of metathorax, latero-ventral of abdominal segment 1 & 2 with dense chalky-white pubescence; epimeron of mesothorax impubis, fuscous; legs fuscous; femora with long hairy ashey bristles; tarsus ochraceous. Head short, broad; smoothly curved at side profile; mandible short, very much retracted, semicircular when closed pair-wise; labrum very small, narrow; clypeus and frons contigeous, sulcus not distinctive, occupying entire frontal of head; the latter rectangular, wide, paralled-side and carinate at side; frons with 4 carinulae, median one elongated Y-letter, another 2 side of median, all widely separated, interspace subglabrous to sparsely punctulate with thin scattered pubescence. Antenna shorter than body, extended to 1/3 of elytra; segment 2 half to 1/3 of scape; 3 a little longer than scape; 4 & 5 subequal to scape; 6 - 11 cylindrical, gradually shorten; 11 rounded at apex. Prothorax as long as broad; ovate; widest part at middle, as wide as elytra; side roundly convex; base narrower than elytra; disc convex dorsally; both ends not constricted but with a small annular ridge; pronotum granulate. Elytron 6 X as long as broad; parallel sided; tip roundly truncated, emarginate near weak angular and sutural tooth; lst band transverse along base, indistinctive, more like a greyish shade, circumscribe scutellum; 2nd begin from scutellum, excurved to 1/4 of base, posterior border transverse; 3rd a little behind middle, wider at suture, anterior border oblique, posterior border sinuate; 4th apical, round spot. Legs : fore and mid femora gradually widen towards apex; hind femora long, rod-liked; all finely punctulate with fine pubescence and scattered long hairy bristles; tibiae linear. Measurement : Length 7.0 - 11.0 mm; breadth 1.5 - 2.2 mm. Distribution : Sarawak; Aru; New Guinea. Head black, entirely covered with ashey pubescence; antennae blackish fuscous; 4 - 5 apical segments yellowish-ferrugineous, all segments with whitish pubescence, denser towards apex; prothorax black, dense ashey pubescence; pronotum with 3 fuscous dots, 2 at middle of side of median, 1 at basi-median, all united to form a somewhat T-shaped mark; scutellum white; elytra black as ground color, marking made of ashey and blackish pubescence; entire mesosternum and abdomen clothed with whitish pubescence except for the ventral surface of 3 basal sterna. Head vertical, narrower than prothorax; gena and mandible long; clypeus and frons at same plane, rectangular; frons with 4 carinae branched off from a stem near clypeus, medial two parallel, outer 2 diverge; few scatered dark impubis spots below lower eye lobe; similar dots on vertex. Antenna shorter than body, extended to 1/2 of elytra. Prothorax oblong-cylindrical; 1.5 X as long as broad; narrower than elytra; disc coarsely granulate especially along median. Scutellum squarish; posterior edge rounded. Elytron elongated; 7 X as long as braod; parallel-sided; apical tip roundly dehiscent with an obscure angular tooth at the outer margin; apex rounded; disc with 4 ashey bands; 1st basal, 2 X as deep as scutellum, transverse; 2nd broad, transverse, at 1/3 from base, connected to former band by a narrow slightly curved stripe along suture; 3rd triangular, wider at suture, anterior border bisinaute, posterior border feebly attenuate at suture; 4th apical, oblong, 1/5 of apex, border terminate at puter angular tooth; all 4 bands widely distant. Measurement : Length 10.0 mm; breadth 2.0 mm Distribution : Sarawak; Peninsular Malaysia (Malacca). Note : differ from hypoleucus by the more elongated body, the carinae on frons, the basal and 3rd elytral bands and lastly the roundly dehiscent apical tip. Material examined : 1 specimen: Mt. Murud, ulu baram, Miri Div., XI-XII, 1914 (SM Coll.).
Xylotrechus longitudovirgatus sp. nov.
Head about as long as broad; mandible pubescent at base; clypeus feebly oblique with frons though sulcus obscure, finely punctulate and pubescent; lateral margin of frons constricted between eyes, gradually widen towards gena, moderately pubescent with 2 approximate median carinae, carinae more distinctive between antennal support and diverge at vertex; the latter with another median carina. Antenna shorter than body, exserted to a little more than half of elytra; slender, filiform; scape thinly pubescent; segment 3 slightly than scape; 4 subequal to scape; 5 subequal to 3; 6 - 11 gradually shorten. Prothorax shortly-ovate; constricted at base with a transverse fascia that continue ventrally to coxae; widest part at 2/3 from base, gradually narrow to apex; longitudinal median stripe on pronotum extended from basal fascia to middle where it suddenly becomes much narrower and continue to apex. Scutellum semicircular. Elytron 6 X as long as broad; parallel, gradually curved at 1/4 from tip; apex obliquely truncate with an angular cusp and a weak sutural spine; feebly dehiscent at sutural tip; disc with 4 bands; 1st extended transversely from scutellum along base to humeral angle where it abruptly bent and continued longitudinally to before middle; 2nd narrow, begin behind scutellum. (not touching it) along suture and obliquely excurved and attenuate outward but not reaching external margin; 3rd behind middle, triangular, anterior joining 2nd band by a very narrow sutural stripe, posterior border transverse; 4th at 1/5 of apex, getting narrower towards tip, outer border terminate at sutural tooth; all elytral bands not reaching external margin. Undersurfaces : intercoxal process of mesothorax 3 X to 4 X wider than fore intercoxal process. Legs : fore femora subfusiform; mid femora peduncle-clavate; hind femora sublinear, gradually widen towards apex; first hind tarsal segment 2 X as long as 2+3 united. Holotype Allotype 1 Paratype 3 Note : differ from decoratus in having a longitudinal median stripe on pronotum, 1st basal band contineous; 3rd triangular, joining 2nd by a narrow sutural stripe, less prominent angular spine and a more parallel elytra.

Head black with whitish pubescence; maxillary and labial palpi, labrum, mandible and anterior of clypeus castaneous; antennae fusco-ferruginous, castaneous with dense whitish pubescence towards apex; prothorax fuscous, densely cover with pale lutescent pubescence except three investitus fuscous patches, one median of pronotum and one each at anterior of sides; scutellum lacteous; elytra black with mixture of lutescent and fuscous pubescence; the fomer forming unique markings with pale olivaceous tinge while the latter produce a reddish tinge according to lighting; undersurfaces generally fuscous with dense lacteous pubescence, denser on posterior edge of prosternal epimeron and epipleura of metasternum, forming an oblique and horizontal albus band respectively; entire fore and middle coxae covered with lacteous pubescence; femora and tibiae fuscous with similar pubescence. Head slightly exserted, fronts
oblique, ventral acutely angulated below lower eye lobe; labrum and anterior of
clypeus impunctate, bare; gena deep, anterior margin roundly notched; frons
with two parallel approximate carinae between eye, united and extenuate in
front, terminated at posterior end of upper eye lobe; antennal insertion
depressed, emarginate with a crescentric clavus region in front; inner
antennifer margin feebly ridged, continued around inner ocular margin and
inclined outward touching base of mandible; vertex acutely deflex with frons,
coarsely punctate and pubescent; neck very short. Antenna shorter than body, not extending beyond 1/3 basal of elytra
in Measurement : Length 10.5 - 12.0 mm.; breadth 2.5 - 3.0 mm. Distribution : Sarawak; Singapore. Note : the redescription was based on a aging specimen. Thus the coloration might have a slight difference with the original one. The lacteous color of undersurfaces might be result of fading from the original described lemon-yellow color.
