Diagnostic characters : head very feebly elevated between antennal insertion; antennal insertion close approximate, distinctively narrower in width than lower eye lobe; antennae shorter than body, not extended beyond half of elytra in both sexes; prothorax mostly cydariform, few oblong-oval; elytra truncate, dentate at angle; legs with femora gradually thicken towards apex; mid femora carinate along its length, sometimes the hind femora as well.

Head pitchy with dense flavo-lacteous pubescence on mandible, frons, gena and temple, less dense on vertex, neck and gula; antennae fuscous, entirely close with even and dense ashey pubescence except scape that is only thinly clothed; prothorax fuscous, with yellowish pubescence; latero-dorsal with an oval fuscous tomentose patch and another similar one but with greyish tinge at posterior of side; pronotum with a bifurcate, more like a inverted Y-letter fuscous tomentose patch at median, sometimes the lateral oval patches converge in anterior with the arm of median Y-shaped patch; scutellum flavo-lacteous; elytra fuscous as background color, markings and bands made of yellowish and fuscous pubescence; undersurfaces entirely clothed with silky pale lemon yellow pubescence; legs fuscous with thin whitish pubescence on femora, even less pubescent on tibiae.

Head very much narrower than prothorax; labrum and clypeus combined triangular- shaped; the latter extended to half of mandible; gena as wide as neck, parallel-sided; pubescence on frons arranged so as pointing towards a median groove; vertex with a median groove flanked by 2 carinulae; gula subglabrous, irregularly striate. Antenna shorter than broad, extended to half of elytra; scape cylindrical; 3 as long as scape; 4 - 11 gradually shorter. Prothorax as long as wide; cydariform to subglobular; base acutely constricted; apex narrower than base with an glabrous annular ring; disc same level as elytra; side convex, rounded; fuscous tomentose patches on pronotum coarsely puncto-striate. Scutellum large; wider at base; apex semicircular. Elytron 5 X as long as broad; parallel-sided, gradually curved from 1/4 of apex; truncate at apex, emarginate with a produced angular cusp and acute sutural spine; yellowish marking denser compared to fuscous stripes, that is closely punctulate; yellowish markings on disc are as follow :- (i) a transverse fascia at base that extended to outer margin, acutely produced at humeral angle, continue posteriorly and attenuated slightly behind middle, this fascia also produced from scutellum along side of suture, feebly oblique and dilated into a club-like end; (ii) almost cover entire apical half, anterior border acutely sinuate, preapical with a roundish fuscous patch that reach outer margin; the brownish tomentose patch on left elytron look like a distorted number "2”. Legs : mid femora carinate on ventral of its entire length.

Known habitat : throughout Laos in clearing and burned forest (Gressitt & Rondon, 1970).

Head black with sparse whitish pubescence; antennae fuscous, endoapical of each segments with tawny bristles, few apical segments clothed with sparse argentate pubescence; prothorax black, side with 2 pure albus spot, one behind middle and another at basal constriction; anterior half of side and pronotum with thin layer of ferrugineous pubescence, somewhat wanting at median gibbosity near base; prosternum with dense chalky-white pubescence; posterior half of scutellum albus, basal half fuscous, impubis; elytra black with moderate ferrugineous pubescence; bands made of pure albus stripes except apical patch with is ashey; undersurfaces as previous species.

Head with gena and clypeus exserted; mandible short; labrum very narrow, transverse; clypeus broad, as wide as gena, coarsely punctate, extended almost to tip of mandible; frons with a median carina that terminate at vertex, lateral margin ridged, subparallel, wider at anterior; neck finely striate. Antenna extended to 1/3 of elytra; filiform; segment 3 distinctively longer than remainder. Prothorax oblong-cylindrical, narrower than elytra; parallel-sided, laterally compressed to gibbosity; posterior margin abruptly curved at base, vertical, ending with a narrow annular ridge; disc minutely granulo-striate with a basi-median gibbosity. Elytron 5 X as long as broad; apex subtransversely truncated; outer margin attenuate into a sharp angular cusp, sutural spine minute; disc with 3 transverse bands; 1st between base and middle, sutural half ascending towards scutellum, marginal half transverse but not reaching external edge, this forming a A-shaped fascia with the other elytron; 2nd behind middle, transverse, also not reaching external margin; 3rd apical, covering only tip of apex. Undersurfaces, Abdomen and Legs as previous species.

Measurement : Length 7.0 - 10.0 mm; breadth 1.5 - 2.5 mm.

Labrum and aclypeus castaneous, remaining area of head and prothorax black with thin sparsely distributed whitish pubescence; antennae pitchy, last 4 - 5 apical segments whitish; scutellum white; elytra black as ground color, markings made of fuscous and pure albus pubescence; prosternum, mesosternum, metasternum and last 3 visible abdominal segments clothed with moderate silky lacteous pubescence; posterior of episternum. of metathorax and basal abdominal segment 1 & 2 with dense velutinous intense whitish pubescence; legs including tarsus fuscous.

Head with a median carina on frons that terminate as a shallow median groove on vertex; clypeus and frons at same plane; lateral side of the latter constricted between eyes; antennifer deplanate; gula with several crescentric striation. Antenna at most not extended to 1/3 of elytra; filiform. Prothorax globular; disc with 4 indistinctive patches across middle; finely granulo-striate; side with few scattered blackish piliferous punctures. Scutellum transverse; apex rounded. Elytron 5 X as long as broad; 1.5 X as long as head and prothorax combined; apex obliquely truncate; angular cusp prominent, at external of outer margin; disc with 4 albus bands; 1st transverse, at base, very faint; 2nd oblique, inverted U-letter, the upper arm reaching external margin, lower arm only half the width of elytron; 3rd transverse, a little behind middle, broader at suture, attenuate to external margin; 4th apical. Undersurfaces : anterior half of episternum of mesothorax glossy, investitus, punctulate. Abdomen : first and second basal segments densely pubescent; thinner on remaining segments. Legs : latero-ventral of mid and hind femora carinate; first hind tarsal segment 1.5 X as long as 2+3 united.

Chlorophorus matangensis sp. nov. 

Labrum, aclypeus and terminal segment of maxillary and labial palpi tawny; remainder of head black with sparse ashey pubescence; antennae blackish fuscous; prothorax black with ashey pubescence at anterior, base and side; pronotum with a transverse fuscous band; scutellum albus; elytra black as ground color; marking made of ashey and blackish pubescence; entire mesosternum fuscous with dense chalky-white pubescence except on episternum; metasternum including episternum of metathorax with dense chalky-white pubescence; abdomen black, posterior half of segment 1 & 2 each with a broad tansverse band of chalky-white pubescence; legs black with sparse ashey pubescence.

Head vertical in front; clypeus punctate, same plane as frons; the latter with an obscure median carina that extended to vertex. Antenna extended to 1/2 of elytra. Prothorax large, stout, cydariform; broadest at middle, as wide as elytra; apex subequal to base; side strongly convex; disc shallowly reticulo-punctate, punctures favose. Elytron 4 X as long as broad; parallel-sided; apex subtransversely truncate with an sharp angular spine; truncation wide, almost reaching external margin; epipleura strongly notched and emarginate at 1/3 from base; disc with 3 ashey bands as follow :- (i) lst begin behind scutellum, excurved to lateral deflexion and abruptly turned backward to humeral angle, not reaching it; (ii) 2nd before middle, triangular on sutural half with the anterior border oblique, posterior border transverse, both obliquely bent at lateral deflexion, extending to external margin; (iii) 3rd transverse, 1/3 from apex, both borders tapering towards external margin; 2nd band nearer to 1st, distant from 3rd. Legs : femora gradually clavate, carinate latero-ventrally. 

Holotype (SM Coll.) sex unknown, Matang Road, Kuching Div., 20.V.1915. Length 12.0 mm; breadth 3.2 mm.

Syntype (SM Coll.) sex unknown, Matang (3000 ft), Kuching Div., VI.1900, Length 10.0 mm; breadth 3.0 mm.
