Acrocyrta clytoides Pascoe, 1857, Trans. Ent. Soc. Lond., ser 2, 4 : 144, pl. 16, fig. 1. (loc. cit.); 1869, Trans. Ent. Soc. Lond., ser 3, 3 : 639.

Diagnostic characters : gena moderately elongated; prothorax favose, each favus with several minute pubescence, the whitish band has whitish pubescence; 1/4 apical of last antennal segment bearing a claviform appendicle; outer side of mid femora sequentially maculose, with a repandus carina and setaous ventrally.

Body blackish; head atrous; labrum, maxillary and labial palpi fuscous; antennae fusco-piceous, segment 6 - 8 whitish except apical tip; prothorax atrous; pronotum with an annular band of whitish pubescence slightly behind anterior margin and latero-posterior of base, the former gradually curved backwards at side and united with the latter near fore coxae; posterior of pronotum with grayish tinge; scutellum black, apex whitish; elytra fusco-piceous with 2 albus bands; posterior half of pro- and mesosternum densely clothed with whitish pubescence; posterior of mid coxae, episternum of metathorax, a triangular patch at posterior margin of metasternum and first 2 abdominal segments except the base albus, the rest fuscous with sparse whitish pubescence; legs fusco-piceous; femora with albus setae or pubescence.

Head exserted at gena; terminal segment of maxillary and labial palpi truncated, clavate and retuse; clypeus feebly oblique with frons; frons vertical, planate, punctate and pubescent; gena. very long, as deep as entire eye; genal margin coarsely punctate, punctures shallow but piliferous; gula transverse, puncto-striate; eye only feebly notched at dorsal; antennal insertion very close, area between strongly raised, concave and with a short median groove; vertex at angle with frons, somewhat granulated; neck feebly strigulated. Antenna 1.5 X as long as body in ; scape punctate; slightly acinacicate; segment 3 approximately 1.5 X as long as scape; 4 half as long as 3; 5 - 10 subequal, as long as segment 2 & 3 combined; 3 - 5 spined endoapically; 3 - 6 thicken at apex; 3 - 7 setiferous endoventrally; 1/4 apical of last segment bearing a claviform appendicle. Prothorax distinctively longer than broad; side sinuate, unarmed; anterior constricted a little behind apex and plicate at middle, the latter with an annular collar; middle of basal constriction glabrous; disc favose, each favus with several minute pubescent; anterior half of posternum plicate with sparse bristles. Scutellum parallel at basal half, acutangulate towards apex. Elytron 4.5 X as long as broad; parallel; rounded at 1/5 from apex with an acuminate angular spine; punctulate, with even and dense pubescence; disc with 2 bands; 1st 1/5 from base, curved posteriorly and outwards, not touching external margin, forming a A-shaped with the diametrical part; 2nd a little more than 1/3 from apex, tapering outwards. Legs : fore and mid coxae globular; fore femora short, half as long as the pairs behind, dorsal sparsely setose, inner side pubescent and glabrous ventrally; middle and hind femora elongated, subcylindrical, bispinous at apex; outer side of mid femora sequentially maculose, with a repandus carina and setaous ventrally; half of hind femora extended beyond elytral apex; mid and hind tibiae strongly compressed laterally; first hind tarsal segment as long as the last three combined.
