subvertical; episternum of metathorax wide;
abdomen of Key to species of Janidera in Sarawak 1.
Prothorax
entirely castaneous; elytral apex rounded with only sutural spine; fore coxal
process tuberculate; hind femora with 2 spines at apex; hind tibiae straight;
meso- and metasternum fusco-ochraceous; abdominal segments entirely
brownish with black posterior margin. - quadripunctata (THOMSON),

Janidera quadripunctata (THOMSON)
Body entirely reddish-ochraceous; this include head, antennae, prothorax, elytra, undersurfaces and legs; head and pronotum with auratus pubescence giving a golden tinge; periphery of scutellum black; undersurfaces evenly clothed with yellowish-tawny pubescence; meso- and metasternum fuscoochraceous; posterior margin of each abdominal margin with a narrow transverse black band. Head strongly constricted behind eye; labrum and clypeus transverse, distinctive, same plane as frons; the latter with a triangular depression below antennal support, side boarder somewhat ridged all the way to base of mandible; gena obsolete; eye very large, oval, extending from base of mandible to vertex, finely facetted; antennifer closely approximate, area between raised and convex, side tuberculate; vertex flat; gula and ventral of neck smooth. Antenna slender; scape very long, cylindrical; 3 as long as scape; basal segments fringed ventrally with several long bristles aggregrated at apex of 1-3; 4 - 8 (9 - 11 missing) with a small ectoapical spine; 4 shorter than 3 or 5; 5 as long as 3; remaining segments decrease in length. Prothorax impunctate; narrower than apex; slightly longer than broad; apex narrower than base; side with an acute and sharp tubercle a little behind middle; in front with a blunt protuberance; pronotum elevated with 2 pointed tubercle side of median; behind the latter a rounded protuberance with depressed posterior margin; prosternum aculately incline; fore intercoxal process tuberculate and vertical at posterior. Scutellum lengthen triangular; glabrous. Elytron 5 X as long as broad; elevated near suctellum to the level of humeral; parallel; rounded at apex and dehiscent at 1/4 from apex; shortly deflexed near basal half, apical half fastigate; disc almost impubis except a longitudinal marginal stripes of pubescence; coarsely punctate near base, apical half punctulate. Legs : femora cylindrical, slender, punctate and subpubescent; hind femora 2 X as long as the first two pairs with 2 apical spines; tibiae compressed antero-posteriorly; front pairs linear; hind tibiae gradually widen towards apex, straight; fore coxal cavity angulate externally; fore coxae transverse. Measurement : Length 22.0 - 24.0 mm
( Distribution : Sarawak; Java; Peninsular Malaysia (Malacca) Note : only this tribe has the tibiae compressed anterior-posteriorly instead of the usual lateral compression; body at side view deepest at anterior of metathorax and ventral margin gradually incline towards apex while the elytra stay horizontal.
