Genus Rosalia Serville

Dignostic characters : head relatively small compared with body size; antennal insertion widely separated, ridged in between, concavity; mandible acutely narrower than gena; the latter long; antennae longer than body in both sexes, 3 longer than 4, 4 & 5 subequal; 6 - 11 successively gradually shorten; 3 - 5 or 3 - 6 spined endoapically; prothorax transverse, rounded at sides; latero-dorsal of pronotum feebly tuberculate; elytra parallel-sided, apex broadly rounded; femora fusiform; hind femora subelavate at apical half, not extended or reaching elytra apex; first hind tarsal segment as long as 2+3 united.

Note : representative of Sarawakian Rosaliini belongs to the subgenus Eurybatus Thomson, base on the vermilion reddish pubescence, antennal segments without tuffs of hairs and fuly developed adult without dorsal tooth at base of mandible.

Body mostly vermilion red with black spots; mandible black; aclypeus tawny-fuscous; labrum, gena, clypeus, frons and temple fuscous, glossy; ventral of head orange; neck velutinous vermilion red; antennae black; prothorax entirely velutinous red, tip of latero-dorsal tubercle black and a median black spot behind middle of pronotum; scutellum black; elytra vermilion red with 1/5 of apex black; each elytron with 3 spots, one at middle, the other 2 about 1/5 from base at both marginal and sutural side; entire meso- and metasternum, abdomen and all coxae yellowish-orange with dense gloden-flavid pubescence; femora castaneous pitchy; tibiae and tarsus black.

Head subparallel-sided up till gena; vertex together with frons raised and dilated between antennae, glabrous, glossy, sparsely punctulate; mandible gradually incurved at middle; aclypeus corneous; eye lateral; gula glabrous. Antenna longer than body, segment 8 - 1 beyond elytral apex; slender, filiform; scape gradually widen towards apex; punctate; 3 longest, 2 X as long as scape; 4 - 7 subequal to gradually shorten; 8 - 11 distinctively shorter than former, as long as scape; 3 - 6 spine endoapically. Prothorax broader than long; narrower than elytra; apical and basal margin transverse; side convex and rounded; latero-dorsal of pronotum with a small conical tubercle at middle; entirely very dense velutinous. Scutellum squarish, apical margin roundedly truncate. Elytron 4 X as long as broad; side parallel; tip feebly dehiscent; apex broadly rounded; disc extremely velutinous; subplanate with outer margin curved; border of apical blackish spot undulating-oblique. Undersurfaces : prosternum wide, transverse; fore intercoxal process very narrow; posterior end oblique inwards; epimeron of mesothorax prolonged; episternum of metathorax elongated, triangular, pointed at posterior. Abdomen : last few segments exposed in . Legs : fore coxal transverse; its cavity strongly angulate externally; femora sub-clavate with base half somewhat pedunculate; middle pair longer than fore femora but much shorter than the lengthened hind femora; tibiae moderately compressed; hind tibiae rod-liked for 2/3 of base, 1/3 apical half widen.

Body vermilion red; head entirely pitchy to black; antennae pitchy; prothorax including prosternum vermilion red, velutinous; pronotum with 3 black spot, median one behind middle of disc and the other 2 middle of latero-dorsal of prothorax; scutellum black; elytra entirely velutinous vermilion red with 3 submedian black spots arranged longitudinally on each elytron; meso-, metasternum and abdomen brownish-fuscous with ashey pubescence; legs including coxae brownish castaneous.

Head strongly raised between antennal insertion with a median groove that terminate at transverse groove at frons; mandible abruptly incurved at middle, base asperate with a dorsal tooth at base; molar glossy; aclypeus small, narrow, transverse; clypeus slightly protuberant at side, very setaceous; inner margin of antennifer strongly expanded and elevated. Antenna a little longer than body in ; segment 9 reaching apex with 10 & 11 extended beyond elyta; scape acutely clavate at apex; 3 a little more than 2 X the length of scape; 4 & 5 subequal, shorter than 3; 6 - 11 gradually shorten; 3 - 5 thicken at apex and spined endoapically; spine on segment 3 blunt, longest. Prothorax cydriform; side produced and acutely convex, unarmed; latero-dorsal of pronotum with a very weak tubercle at middle. Scutellum parallel-sided with apex transversely trucate. Elytron very much elongated, 5.7 X as long as broad; disc with 3 spots arranged longitudinally at submedian of each elytron, another smaller one submarginal near base; the 3 spots comprised of 2 large irregular-circular and a smaller roundish dots; the former at middle and between middle and base while the smaller one between middle and apex; apex gradually curved. Undersurfaces : fore and mid intercoxal provess very narrow. Legs : fore and mid coxae contigeous; hind femora not reaching elytral apex, extended to the apical blackish spots.
