Genus Colophotia

Only one species was identifed from the Natural History Museum collection in London and this was Colophotia  brevis E. Olivier, which is a known species from Sumatra and Java. This species was only found in the Federal Territory. It was found on the grounds of the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia, on the trees and shrubs lining the rocks along the waterfall. The larvae of this species were found immersed in the flowing water with their claw-like grips tightly holding on to little twigs and rocks. The larvae of this species were first recorded along wet ditches near Kuala Lumpur by Blair in 1927.

Colophotia brevis eggs 7 hours after oviposition.
