Type locality: BMNH 1946.8.14.82; 1946.8.27.17; 1946.8.13.86; 1946.8.27.16 and 1946.8.14.79 (syntypes), from “Sarawak” (in East Malaysia; Borneo).

Distribution: Sumatra and Borneo (Wermuth, 1967: 60; Manthey and Grossmann, 1997: 188).

Localities in Borneo: SARAWAK: Gunung Gading (Smith, 1925b); Santubong (ZMB uncat.; Denzer, 1996; Manthey and Grossmann, 1997: 187-188); Semenggok Wildlife Sanctuary (ZRC uncat.); Nanga Tekalit on Mengiong River, Third Division (AMNH 111869-71; KU 155795-96; MVZ 111834-39); Labang Camp on Sungei Seran, Fourth Division (AMNH 111872-74; CAS 105996; KU 155797-99); Kuala Sakaloh, Niah, Fourth Division (KU 155794); SABAH: Gunung Silam, Tawau Hills Park (Stuebing and Shukor, 1995, based on SP 06331); Tenom (UKMS [at present UMS] Re. 343 [formerly FMNH 1228]); Marak Parak, Kinabalu (UKMS [at present UMS] Re. 309); Liwagu, Telupid (UKMS [at present UMS] Re. 259); Sambas, summit of Damoes (Lidth de Jeude, 1905); KALIMANTAN: Maruwai, Central Kalimantan (MZB uncat.); unknown: Gunung Alang (ZRC 2.930); Pontianak (ZMB 4 995); Maruwai (RBS 18.263; at present MZB uncat.). Derivation: Greek for smooth-bellied.
