Type localities: FMNH 148567 (holotype), FMNH 148568-72 (five paratypes), from “Sungei Seran, Labang, Bintulu District, Fourth Division, Sarawak” (03º 20’N; 113º 29’E; East Malaysia, Borneo); FMNH 120245-49 (five paratypes); FMNH 120251-55 (five paratypes); FMNH 128236 (paratype); FMNH 128362 (paratype), SM unnumbered (two paratypes) from “Subis Forest Reserve, Niah, Fourth Division, Sarawak” (01° 39’N; 113° 38’E; East Malaysia, Borneo); NMW unnumbered (two paratypes), from “Akar River, Fourth Division, Sarawak” (in East Malaysia, Borneo); FMNH 138572-76 (five paratypes), from “Nanga Tekalit, Mengiong River, Kapit District, Third Division, Sarawak” (01° 39’N; 113° 38’E; East Malaysia, Sarawak). Distribution: Larut Hills of the Malay Peninsula (Lim, 1998), Sumatra and Borneo (Manthey and Grossmann, 1997: 278).

Localities in Borneo: SARAWAK: Sungei Seran, Labang, Akar River, Nanga Tekalit, Mengiong River (Inger and Hosmer, 1965); Subis Forest Reserve, Niah (Inger and Hosmer, 1965, based on AMNH 94158); Santubong (Denzer, 1996); Base Camp, Gunung Mulu National Park (BMNH 978.328; 1978.2860-61);  Camp 2, Gunung Mulu National Park (BMNH 1979.917); BRUNEI: Batu Apoi (UBD 195, 204, 278, 295, 313, 538); Sungei Ingei, Belait (BM 92/84, 92/88-89, 92/119); Sungei Sibut, Batang Duri, Temburong district (BM 92/172-73; 92/227); Sungei Pendaruan, Temburong District (BM 92/183, 92/225); SABAH: Silau Trail in Kinabalu National Park (Malkmus, 1996); Ranau, Kinabalu National Park (SSM 0530); Hutan Simpan, Mandamai, Pitas, Kudat (SSM 0547). Also, “Borneo” (BMNH 1864.9.2.68).

Derivation: Greek for dark-blue throated, in allusion to the colouration of males.
